Your confidential telegram No.807 of 24th May, 1950. Public Services Commission.
I have appointed Mr. T. Megarry to be Chairman of the Commission with effect from 3rd August, 1950, and the Hon. Sir Man Kam Lo, Kt., C.B.E., and Mr. J.R. Jones, M.C., to be members for a period of two years with effect from the same date. The inaugural meeting of the Commission was held on 17th August, 1950.

Sir Man Kam Lo is, as you aware, a member of Executive Council and served on the salaries Commission. He was a member of the Conditions of Service Committee, which was set up as an interim body to advise on problems arising out of the Salaries Commission's recommenda- tions. This Committee has been discontinued now that the Public Services Commission has been established. Mr. J.R. Jones is Legal Adviser to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation and was a member of the Salaries Commission.
